I booked a hotel in Sevilla (Spain) last night after spending some time comparing prices with other sites. As it happened Otel.com was the cheapest and had a very attractive price for breakfast included so I chose that option. Shortly afterwards I received a confirmation and to my horror I noticed that the booking said for hotel nights only - no mention of breakfast. I immediately went to "my account " on the web link that was attached to my booking with the special password they sent me. To my horror rather than see my name I saw all the details for some Russian man! I assure you I am a British woman! I smelled a rat so decided to call them with a 0800 number and after only 2 minutes I got a foreign man on the line who made silly excuses telling me basically that it was my fault and that the error happened because I had been redirected from another site. Anyway I chose not to insist but rather to make sure he cancelled my booking immediately. This he did, but again I was asked to confirm the cancellation from an automated message I received saying they had cancelled my booking, but in the same message I was told it was too late to cancel the transaction and that I would be reimbursed in due course. panic, 10 minutes after booking my transaction had been processed?! Today I went to my bank (society generals) a major French bank and they verified my account which seems to be fine - no withdrawl. I feel a little reassured because I had read many of the comments on this sit and thought I had lost over 700 euros! It has taught me a lesson. I have informed my bank to watch out for ant suspicious transactions in the next couple of weeks. They now know the name of this company and will be watching out. Be warned Otel.com!!!
